Desert National Wildlife Refuge

This morning, my wife and I got up early. We went to the refuge to seek a refuge for ourselves. We both work in healthcare. We are both burnouts. We look forward to a place to do some “oxygen bath”. During summer days like this, the best time to be outdoors is before nine o’clock in the morning. The air was a bit chilly. The trail was empty. We took our time and learned about the natives who live there. We learned about this old Earth which was formed millions of years ago. We tried to imagine the picture where the place we were standing was once under water. I took some pictures. We walked. We talked. We became part of nature, even just for the brief moment. And that was enough to reset our high wired overworked brains. We returned to the city as rested souls.
