WHO AM I

I was born and raised in Manila, Philippines where I was exposed to Chinese, Filipino and American cultures. I love literature. I have been writing poems and essays in Chinese and English in the last forty years. I have published fourteen books since 2016. My latest was entitled “In the Shadows” which is a collection of my black and white photography.

I love monochrome or black and white photography. I recently bought a Leica Q2 monochrome to focus on producing monochrome photographs. I believe that monochrome photographs bring out the essence of what I want to capture in a scene. Just like my poems, it freezes the moment and allows the viewer to linger in that feeling, hopefully long after the photograph was seen.

I love minimalism and Japanese Zen gardens. It calms me down. It is my hope that my monochrome photographs can bring serenity and peace to my viewers.
